  3. The original version of this typeface was drawn by Robert Granjon
  4. (active in the latter half of the 16th century---he also designed
  5. a number of typographic ornaments that have become standard in
  6. typography). It is a typographic rendering of the gothic hand
  7. 'batarde'. This version is based on Louis Ferrand's ATF version of
  8. Civilite. There are also versions by Deberny et Peignot, and
  9. Enschede (both with a much more gothic character to them).
  10. Variations on this typeface include Ilse Schuele's 'Rhapsody', and
  11. Schneidler's 'Legend'. Morris Benton designed Typo Upright (also
  12. called Linoscript) which is based on the later development of
  13. Civilite.

  15. The type is best used in sizes 18-60pt (the original on which this
  16. working is based is 48pt).
